NIN – Discipline (Unofficial Video)
Every so often I’ll hear a song and immediately picture in my head what (I think) could make a great music video. Now that I have the right tools to actually do something about this, I decided to give it a go. After a fair amount of daydreaming, a couple weekend evenings playing around in the garage with Mel and a bunch of editing, this is the result.
The song is “Discipline” from Nine Inch Nail’s new album “The Slip”, which I wrote about previously. As I mentioned, the album is licensed under Creative Commons, which encourages this kind of use. I think the whole Creative Commons thing is awesome, and I think it’s great that NIN are paving the way in rethinking how music is distributed and licensed in the 21st century.

Holy crap that’s awesome!
Really looks professional and I think I know why – timing. You’ve not only got the timing from the music (a must in music videos) but also the whole sped up / slow down moments that you interchange. And trippyness too. Wooh! Very well done!
Things I really liked:
Slow milk droplet, the crunching of a milk-dud (or was that a whopper?), and the first bit with the line drawings
The bits with your eyes maybe could have been done in black and white? Or perhaps some sort of filter that makes it look creepy, or old film? Not sure, but the shots of the eyes were cool, but I think they looked too clean for the message I think you were going for.
Yah, the feeling you’ve got there is perfect for NIN too.
I’m going to go watch that again. Hehe!
Z.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Hey, I recognize that mouth!
Nice vid! The effects are good, editing with the music is great, but now I have a real craving for doughnuts!
Mmm, doughnuts… (drool) Glad you liked it!
